I know this legit sounds like I'm crazy but I have done this before in the past with my old laptops where I drain its battery to ~40% then leave it in the refrigerator and they've all done fine when I took them out with a large majority of the cells still functional after 4-5 yrs! Couldn't be able to say the same if it was plugged in at 100% the whole time.Įdit: Just realized this is a lipo battery. I want to extend the life of the battery for that. The only reason I am asking this is because I am using this as a desktop replacement and it's going to be plugged in 99.8% of the time, so there's no need to leave the battery in there.
I also see from pictures that after removing said bottom panel, it is possible to take the battery out? Just looks like you unplug it.? My old GT60 from 2013, with normal battery use, and abut 60 plugged in to the wall total time, still have around 50+ battery life left (around 40 battery wear) and that laptop is over 4 years old. Now your laptop will detect the battery and start charging it.I am thinking of buying this laptop and am asking whether you can use the laptop without a battery in it? Would the laptop freak out? This is the 3rd time I'm writing this instruction today: A lower-wattage charger might keep the battery from draining while you use it, but it wont be enough to charge it any higher. What's happening now is, the battery is not getting charged (actually, it's not getting detected) and your laptop thinks there's no battery and is simply running on power.Ī new battery will of course have some charge and your laptop will be very happy with it and keeping charging it. Your laptop generally tries to charge the battery + run on power when it's connected to a power adapter. Before you decide to give up on your battery and get a new one, there might be a chance that you finished using up every last ounce of energy in your battery and it didn't get time to charge again :)
